DOHA - The Boeing 777 aircraft to be delivered to Qatar Airways next month will have fully-flat beds in the Business Class. The 777s are being used for long-haul destinations and will be used for the 17-hour flight to the airline's latest destination, Houston, to be launched in November. It is expected that in a matter of time, all aircraft will be fitted with flat-bed seats in Business Class. The airline currently offers seat beds in the First Class.
The move to beds in Business Class is part of Qatar Airways' strategy to further increase on-board comfort. New seats are also to be fitted on aircraft flying on the Doha-UK routes. First and Business Class on the UK sector are usually fully booked as wealthy nationals and residents prefer to travel in premium classes on the airline's UK routes.
Qatar Airways looks likely to dismantle the First Class lounge on its A340 aircraft due to a lack of use. Passengers apparently prefer to be served in the comfort of their seats.
The airline has been going all out to cater to its premium passengers. Service on both Business and First Class has been praised by passengers.
The Premium Terminal, built at a cost of around $200m, offers nothing less than services which can be found in five-star hotels, starting from the entrance where baggage is picked up by airline staff and taken to the sit-down counters where passengers check in.
