MoE inks deal with British firm

KUWAIT CITY, Nov 28: A British company specialized in educational services will evaluate all international and bilingual schools in Kuwait during the first phase of school evaluation project, Al-Qabas daily quoted Assistant Undersecretary for Private Education Affairs Fahad Al-Ghais as saying.

The Ministry of Education had signed an agreement with the British company and the first phase of the project, which is likely to commence in January 2011, cost the ministry KD 247,000. Arabic schools will be evaluated in the second phase.

Al-Ghais said the project is the first of its kind in Kuwait and it will help the ministry get a clear vision about the level and quality of education offered in these schools. It will also help the ministry frame suitable laws and bylaws, he added.

The British company is reportedly working on similar contracts in Dubai, Abu Dhabi, Qatar and Bahrain. It collects data about schools' performance, makes fields visits to know the reality, analyzes the information and then submits its recommendations.
