Riyadh, Sep. 19, Prince Salman bin Abdulaziz, Governor of Riyadh region, patronized here tonight the opening ceremony of the first international conference on clean development mechanism, organized by the ministry of petroleum and mineral resources.
Prince Salman was received at the venue by Minister of Petroleum and Mineral Resources Ali bin Ibrahim Alnaimi and a number of senior officials.
Addressing the gathering, the advisor to the Minister of Petroleum and Mineral Resources Dr. Mohammed Alsabban, who is also chairman of the conference, said the ministry is currently seeking to set up the legal framework for launching the clean development mechanism in the kingdom.
He said the world community appreciates the kingdom's moderate oil policy that contributes to the stability of oil market.
Convening this conference in the kingdom gives yet another evidence of the country's sincere wish to bring about an oil industry ready to face increase in world demand on oil in future in a safe and environmentally secure way, he added.
He drew the attention to the interest of the kingdom in expanding the usage of the technology of sipping carbon dioxide emissions from desalination and power generation stations and ejecting them in oil fields as another confirmation of creating an international oil market and protecting world environment.
