The innovations and inventions of Saudis on display at the third Ibtikar exhibition here show the tremendous progress of the Kingdom in recent years, said Prince Faisal bin Abdullah, minister of education, on Sunday.
Prince Faisal opened the exhibition entitled "Innovation builds a knowledge-based society" on behalf of Custodian of the Two Holy Mosques King Abdullah.
Prince Faisal said the exhibition highlights the "creative genius" of the new Saudi generation. The five-day event at the Riyadh International Convention and Exhibition Center has been organized jointly by the King Abdul Aziz and his Companions' Foundation for the Gifted and Creativity, or Mawhiba, and Saudi Aramco.
"What I have seen here shows the true picture of the progress and prosperity of the Kingdom in the era of King Abdullah, the crown prince and the second deputy premier," said Prince Faisal, who is also president of Mawhiba.
He said the exhibition was a source of pride for all Saudis and an opportunity for young people to showcase their ingenuity to the world.
About 200 Saudi inventors in petrochemicals, renewable energy, information and communication technology and medical fields are taking part in the event.
Khalid bin Abdullah Al-Sabti, deputy minister of education and secretary general of Mawhiba; Khalid A. Al-Faleh, president and chief executive officer of Saudi Aramco; Abdulaziz Khoja, minister of culture and information; and Motleb bin Abdullah Al-Nafisah, minister of state and Cabinet member, were also at the event.
