KUWAIT, March 25 (KUNA) -- Positive utilization of internet networks contributed to the support of social development plans, said Minister of Information Dr. Anas Al-Rushaid on Saturday.

This came in a speech delivered on his behalf by the ministry's Assistant Undersecretary for Press and Publications Affairs Ibrahim Al-Nouh at the "Regulating the Use of Internet and E-Publications" forum.

He said the forum was aimed at highlighting the importance of correct usage of the internet. It also provided an opportunity for government and civil society (NGO) institutions to exchange views on the issue.

Furthermore, he said participating experts would present suggestions and recommendations that would help society in overcoming obstacles in this field.

For his part, Education Undersecretary Dr. Humoud Al-Saadoun said that regulating the use of the interest and electronic networks was one objective that required much effort, adding that most published information emanated from Western cultures.

He called for standing up to bad use of the internet through spreading awareness, stressing the importance of maintaining national identity, culture, and heritage.
