Damascus - Prime Minister Dr. Wael al-Halqi stressed that Syrians have achieved "a national democratic epic through presidential elections and the huge turnout on ballot boxes to say their word and choose President Bashar al-Assad for a new constitutional term."

Meeting a delegation from Arab farmers organizations, al-Halqi clarified that Syrian people through their awareness and transparency made remarkable progress in practicing democracy and sent a strong and expressive message to the countries which are bragging about democracy.

The prime minister pointed out the importance of finding an integrated vision to deal with the Arab issues and achieve pan-Arab economic integration.

The Arab delegation stressed that Arab peoples are aware that Syria is going through hard circumstances that are aimed at undermining its unity and sovereignty, adding that their visit is aimed at affirming that Arab people are united against Zionism.

They hailed the great efforts Syrian government exerted to enhance agricultural sector and provide the requirements of the farmers.

Grand Mufti: Syria is made to pay for its support to resistance

Meanwhile, Grand Mufti of the Republic Dr. Ahmad Badr-Eddin Hassoun said Syria is made to pay for its support for Arab resistance and defending Arab causes, particularly the Palestinian.

During his meeting with the delegation, Hassoun underlined the importance that they convey the true image of the ongoing events in Syria and expose Western allegations about the situation in Syria.

The delegation members, for their part, said the anti-Syria conspiracy is meant to splinter Syria and get the better of it for its support to just Arab causes.
