A source in the Public Works Authority (Ashghal) has allayed fears that the C-Ring Road improvement works will lead to traffic congestion along the Corniche and other roads, local Arabic daily Arrayah has reported.
He stressed that there is a plan to ensure smooth traffic flow during execution of the project. This will be done by keeping three lanes on either side operational while work will continue on the new lanes, the report states.
The source has further said that the addition of more lanes to C-Ring Road will increase its capacity by 25%. The development works include the creation of additional paths at intersections for turning to the right and left and conversion of roundabouts into traffic signals, which will result in smoother traffic flow and reduce congestion, the source has added.
