Al Ain: UAE and Japanese scientists will join hands to develop a new acid gas removal process to remove harmful elements from natural gas before its use and liquefaction.
The project aims at finding a more efficient solution, replacing the drawbacks of the conventional system currently in use and help to create a cleaner environment, announced a spokesperson of the UAE University.
The scientists from both countries will work on the project under an agreement that was signed here on Monday between the UAE University and the Japan Cooperation Center, Petroleum (JCCP).
The agreement was signed by Katsuo Yokoyama, Managing Director JCCP, and Dr Abdullah Khanbashi, Acting Vice-Chancellor of the UAE University.
The Dh7 million three-year project will also involve the Abu Dhabi Oil Refining Company (Takreer), Adgas, Nippon Oil Research Institute (NORI) and Kobe University of Japan, he said.
Dr Khanbashi the new research projects would benefit the oil and gas industry in the UAE.
