Abu Dhabi, Jan. 5, 2007 (WAM) -- Deputy Prime Ministerand Chairman of the Emirates Heritage Club, Sheikh Sultan bin Zayed Al Nahyan, in the early morning of today, watched the take-off of thePhase II of the Sheikh Sultan bin Zayed Challenge Cup.

Contestants in the endurance horse race includeKing Tuanku Mizan Zainal Abidin ibni al-Marhum Sultan Mahmud of Malaysia, Sheikh Hazza bin Zayed al Nahyan and Sheikh Khalid bin Sultan al Nahyan.

Twenty six contestants, who qualified from thePhase I of the race are vying for honours in this second round of the120-kilometre race, which is being held at the Bu-zeib Endurance Race Village, here in Al Khatam, by the EHC in collaboration with the UAE Equestrian and Racing Federation.

The youth edition of the race, which covers 100kilometres in all, also took-off early morning of today.

The event would be rounded-off tomorrow with PhaseIII of the race early tomorrow.

The organising committee of the event will holdlater tomorrow a special ceremony at the auditorium of the Heritage Village here at the Abu Dhabi Corniche to distribute prizes to winners.

A number of distinguished guests, including some members of the diplomatic corps, will attend the ceremony.
