Vienna - A Persian handicrafts exhibition is opened in Jaszbereny, eighty kilometers to the east of Hungary's capital, Budapest. An IRI Embassy official in Budapest, Hassan Zakeri, told IRNA Wednesday, "The two-week exhibition sponsored by Iran's cultural attache was opened on Monday."

Zakeri added, "A noticeable quantity of high quality photographs, books, rugs and carpets, and various other types of Persian handicrafts are put on display at the exhibition." Among the dignitaries present at the opening ceremony of the exhibition there were the Ambassador of the Islamic Republic of Iran Abolfazl Rahnama Hazaveie, Jaszbereny Mayor Majar Lonte and a number of Iranian and Hungarian artists and art enthusiasts. Some pieces of beautiful Hungarian folklore music were played during the opening ceremony.

The IRI Ambassador who gave the keynote address at the ceremony focussed on the richness of the Iranian culture and said that Hungary's Jaszbereny City and Iran's Yazd City have close ties." Rahnama meanwhile talked about Iran's unique tourism attractions, coupled with the exemplary Iranian hospitality, inviting the audience, including the Jaszbereny mayor to visit Iran and get acquainted with the Iranian culture and civilization personally.

Dr. Lonte, too, during the ceremony appreciated the IRI embassy's efforts made in arrangement of the exhibition that is cosponsored by Jaszbereny Municipality. Mayor Lonte also focussed on shared cultural values and similar traditions of the Iranian and Hungarian people, saying, "The Hungarian people are proud of such shared values and traditions with the Iranians."
The Hungarian official meanwhile announced his support for Tehran-Budapest cultural cooperation, asking the audience to accept Ambassador Rahnama's invitation to Iran wholeheartedly and to get acquainted personally with the cultural and social personality traits of the Iranians, as well as the unique nature and historical landscape of Iran.

According to Zakeri, Jaszbereny citizens, as well as Hungarians from that city's neighboring regions have welcomed the cultural event enthusiastically during its first two days, expressing satisfaction with its quality and the easy purchasing procedure for the presented artifacts.
