MUSCAT -- When the world celebrated 'Earth Hour' on March 26, Panasonic Corporation launched its eco friendly series of energy saving light bulbs in Oman. This new series of spiral lamps offer energy savings up to 80 per cent as compared to an incandescent bulb that is producing the same level of brightness.
The new series of spiral lamps also features up to 40 per cent longer useful life (10,000 hours versus 6,000 hours) as compared to normal spiral type energy saving light bulbs. The new model has an electrode path that is 1.4 times longer that the 3U fluorescent arc tube and the longer electrode path contributes to the efficiency of the lamp.
Panasonic has reduced the minimal lamp wattage down to 13W for a 70W incandescent equivalent, with an innovative "spiral arc tube" enabling the ultra compact size of the Light Capsule series still keeping tri-phosphor technology and higher colour rendering for natural looking light.
"The new range of bulbs from Panasonic will help drive down energy costs across homes and business in Oman. Thanks to its unique quadruple coil technology, Panasonic energy-saving lamps last longer than most competitors.
At an average use of 2.7 hours per day, the new Light Capsule lasts for up to 10 years," commented Hayashi Nobuhiro, Product Group Manager, Panasonic Marketing Middle East.
The Panasonic energy saving lamps provides more light per watt with a wide voltage range (operating between 170V-250V) and with a quick start of 40 per cent of lumen output within one second, they can be used in a variety of applications.
Panasonic aims to become the leader in green innovation companies in the electronics industry in Middle East as part of its group-wide global commitment to drive eco-innovation by 2018, the 100th anniversary of its foundation.
To achieve this goal, the company is pursuing its 'Eco Ideas for Lifestyles' by promoting sustainable and comfortable green lifestyles as well as 'Eco Ideas for Business-styles.
The Japanese manufacturer is keen to introduce eco friendly products to the regional market.
"Consumers have become increasingly conscious of energy conservation at home, including lighting. LED bulbs are quickly finding their way into homes thanks to their high energy efficiency and long life", George Alexander, General Manager, retail, engineering and distribution at Omasco, said.
Other Panasonic and Omasco officials, Toru Tachibana, Ashok Balan, Suhail al Balushi, Rakesh Nair and Eid Khamis were also present at the Middle East launch ceremony.
