Omantel, the integrated communication services provider in the sultanate, has launched another service innovation for its customers with the introduction of bill payment and Hayyak top-up through the company's enhanced Interactive Voice Response (IVR) system using bank cards. The enhanced IVR gives customers a unique self-service option without the need to visit Omantel outlets.

This innovative service which is launched in partnership with Oman Arab Bank for the first time in the region comes as part of Omantel's efforts to provide an enhanced customer experience to the largest telecom community in the sultanate.

Haitham Abdullah al Kharusi vice president, Consumer Business Unit, Omantel, said "We are elated to announce the launch of this unique service. Convenience is an integral part of our customer experience strategy and the launch of this service is part of our efforts to introduce innovative solutions for our customers. This is customer first initiative, a major company-wide programme with an overall objective to provide an even improved customer experience through all touch points. We believe that customer satisfaction is not only gained from the quality of products and services but rather extends to providing easy and convenient payment options."

The new service will allow paying Omantel fixed, mobile and Internet through few simple steps by calling Omantel Call Centre number (1234).

Apart from providing another convenient payment option from anywhere, IVR bill payment through any local and international accepted bank cards is very secured as it does not involve any human interaction throughout the whole payment process. Customer credit card details are not stored at any stage of the transaction with Omantel system which - however - is ISO certified in information security. The verification is done through the certified acquirer 'Oman Arab Bank' that is PCI/DSS certified.

"After thorough research anddevelopment, we are honoured to be the first bank across the region to set-up such sophisticated payment gateway serving all merchants opted for card-not present transaction across the merchant channels such as call center, CDMs and e-ecommerce in the near future," said Hassan AbdulAli, deputy general manager of information technology and head of IT at OAB.

"Such joint venture has given us at OAB the opportunity to proposition the payment infrastructure in B2B relationship," AbdulAli added.
