MUSCAT -- Department of Specifications and Measurements, which works under the Ministry of Commerce and Industry, conferred Majan Glass Company with 'Omani Quality Mark' at a function held yesterday at Hotel Crowne Plaza. Saud Nasser al Khusaibi, Director-General of Specifications and Measurements handed over the certificate of honour to Anawar Ali Sultan, Chairman of Majan Glass Company and congratulated him for this great achievement of the company.
He said the company came out with flying colours since its inception in 1997 and fulfilled criteria to be honoured with 'Omani Quality Mark', which were given to companies for their consistent and excellent performance. Nasser exhorted other companies to emulate the policies of Majan Glass Company and achieve greater heights in their respective fields.
After receiving the certificate of honour Anawar said it was a great moment for the company. "Our sincere efforts in promoting business in local and international market have been recognisd. It gives us more strength to excel and give our customers better service. We have successfully broadened our customer base in Oman and abroad in a short span of time."
"As a chairman of the company, it gives me great pleasure to see the company's operational and financial success over the last five years. We sailed through initial tough years and successfully overcome the challenges of adverse market conditions and competitive products like plastic and PET," he said. "Quite often I am asked the reasons for today's success and failures in the past. I am of firm belief that the Board of Directors and management have addressed the basics of the company correctly and the result is favourable. Our company today is one of the leading glass manufacturing companies in the Middle East and has always operated on the belief that its success is grounded in each individual employee's commitment to excellence," said Anwar.
Commenting further Anwar said, "Our company is guided by the principle that human resources should be developed from within, our main focus being 'look for the right people and a right team. We have believed in getting the right person in the right place and giving them right challenges." Employees' retention is a hallmark of Majan Glass. "I am proud to mention that we have at least 60 employees, who have been with the company right from day one and. They remained with us all through our good and bad times and are still with us," he said.
