MUSCAT -- A training programme on the role of internal audit units in activating internal auditing systems for staff at audit Diwans in the GCC states commenced here at Crowne Plaza Hotel yesterday. Nassir bin Salim al Rawahi, Deputy Chairman of the State Audit Institution (SAI) noted that the programme is directly linked with a number of benefits as auditing has its impact on protection of the capital and assets of the units.

He added that these benefits include the provision of suitable environment for work organisation and ensuring the implementation of the laws, regulations and policies, in addition to achieving accuracy and safety of accountancy and administrative data information and upgrading production efficiency. He refered the increasing importance of internal audit via for government and private sectors. This programme is one of a series of training seminars by SAI that aim to develop skills and efficiency of its staff, he said.

Aql Munawir al Dhamiri, Director of the Audit Administration at the GCC states, said training is an important in manpower in any establishment. Mohammed bin Hassan al Shuhi, head of planning, training and information technology at SAI, stressed the importance of the training programme and the role of the higher apparatuses in audit and financial monitoring in the GCC states in activating an integrated organisation for audit work through a clear vision to understand the real and important role carried out by internal audit departments.
