MUSCAT -- The road safety award ceremony was held at the Road Safety Institute, Seeb under the auspices of Sayyid Badr bin Hamad al Busaidy, Secretary-General of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs. The chief guest gave away awards to the winning schools, students and teachers for their well-composed projects and drawings depicting road safety awareness, problems and their solutions. The award for best road safety project went to Dakhilya Region-based Jaifar bin Al Julanda School. The school ranked first for its project titled 'Enough! -- Road safety campaign'.
The first place in the category of best road safety students' research award went to Rahma bint Khalifa al Riyami of Sumaiya School of North Sharqiya region for her research titled 'The safety of our loved ones where is it heading'. The first place in the category of best road safety teachers' research award went to Zainab bint Mahmoud al Ajmi from Omaiya bint Qais School of North Batinah Region for her research titled 'Children's Safety Seats'.
The artistic and creative side of the participating students were apparent in their illustrative drawings. Ayman bin Douaij al Migaini, a student from Al Shuaiba School of South Batinah bagged first place for best road safety drawing that illustrated the very concept of road safety. Those who were present on the occasion included Yahya bin Saud al Sulaimi, Minister of Education; Dr Sana bint Sabeel al Balushi, Director-General of the National Centre for Career Guidance at the Ministry of Education; Hilal al Mawali, External Affairs Manager of Shell Development Oman, dignitaries, teachers and students.
