MUSCAT -- College of Banking and Financial Studies, Oman's largest provider of professional qualifications, is offering a Diploma in Management Studies (DMS), in collaboration with Edexcel (UK). The course is ideal for managers and supervisors who want to climb the professional ladder and are looking at occupying senior positions.
The Diploma in Manage-ment Studies focuses on the theories and concepts of management and lays a solid foundation for business related topics that are vital components of an MBA course. Those working in junior and middle level management will benefit immensely, by picking up business principles and skills that they can adapt and apply in their work environment. And for those aspiring to further their education, DMS acts as a bridge programme, leading to an MBA.
"DMS is a professional qualification for those who are aspiring to be first-line managers. It equips them with the knowledge, understanding, techniques and skills required for continued professional growth," said Ali Mohammed Bhayani, Director, Professional Studies Department. Those with a recognised first degree, a professional qualification or managerial experience of 5 years, are eligible for the course. To get the BTEC Diploma in Management Studies in hand, students have to successfully complete three core units and six specialist units.
The core units consist of Advanced Professional Development, Managing Change in Organisations and Management Research -- Project and Presentation. The specialist units deal with Strategic Planning and Implementation, Managing Financial Principles and Techniques, Human Resou-rces Planning and Develop-ment, Strategic Review, Managing Finance for Strategic Managers and Strategic Marketing Manage-ment.
