MUSCAT -- Shaikh Abdullah bin Shuwain al Hosni, Under-Secretary at the Ministry of Information, presided over the official opening of the latest state-of-the-art digital broadcasting and editing studios of the first privately owned FM radio stations, Hi FM and Hala FM yesterday. The project, which has been in the making for almost two years with vast amounts of consultation, technology and manpower all bought together, was undertaken by the OHI Group under the supervision and guidance of its chairman, Maqbool Hameed al Saleh.

After years of hard work and dedication from a well-selected team, Entertainment Network SAOC, part of OHI, comprising Hi FM, a branded product that promises to deliver the best music and entertainment-based interactivity like never before and Hala FM, an Arabic channel with the latest music, showbiz news and competitions aimed at Omani life, began broadcasting from the new studio complex on April 10.

On the occasion, Al Hosni also distributed cash prizes to the winners of competition that gives listeners a chance to win by answering questions via SMS. Hamad Ahmed al Dughaishi, Amal Majid Mousa al Hilali and Myron Hendrick were the lucky winners. Al Saleh, in a congratulatory message to the winners, said: "The response to our contest was overwhelming. We are delighted that, in a relatively short span of time, these channels have made such a huge impact on the listeners."
