MUSCAT -- Oman Gas Company (OGC), the Sultanate's natural gas transportation company, has announced the start of its operations in the Wilayat of Sur. Yousuf bin Mohammed al Ojaili, CEO, said: "The Wilayat of Sur is the sixth regional district of the company's operations and the Gas Supply Station is the second largest among the other gas supply stations managed by the company." The gas supply station at Sur positions OGC for strong growth as it represents a key part of the company's strategy to expand operations to meet the growing demand for natural gas across a number of economic sectors. The facility is managed by highly qualified 100 per cent Omani staff trained in all aspects of systems operations and safety, Al Ojaili added.

Highlighting the company's future plans in Sur, the CEO said: "There are further plans for the company's operations in Sur, including the management of gas supply stations of Oman India Fertiliser Company, Al Kamil Power Plant and Sur Industrial Estate." The CEO expressed his gratitude to the authorities concerned for their significant role in the success of this project, in particular the Ministry of Oil and Gas for its confidence in the company, and Petroleum Development of Oman (PDO), as well. Since its inception in 2000, Oman Gas Company has grown into an integrated enterprise harnessing the power of Oman's natural gas transportation. The company employs about 355 people, of whom 95 per cent are Omanis.

OGC strives to provide gas to the main industrial sectors and major consumers comprising of Domestic, Power and Desalination plants, Fertiliser, Methanol, Petrochemical, Refinery, Steel and Cement plants, through a wide network of natural gas pipelines and compressor stations spread across the country with more than 2500 kilometres of high pressure transmission pipelines and ancillary facilities.
