MUSCAT -- The Royal Oman Police (ROP) has introduced an electronic visa application system aimed at saving time, effort and cost involved in the process. The new system will begin to be implemented early next year, a Royal Oman Police official said. Col Amor bin Said al Hajri, Director General of Passports and Residency, outlined the new system, saying that it is complementary but not exclusive of the existing manual system (paper work) implemented at visa clearing units.
After filling the visa form available at the ROP website, the applicant (or an authorised agent) should visit the ROP visa department to submit the relevant documents and continue the procedures needed for the visa processing, said Col Amor. The presence of the applicant during visa processing helps in filling missing gaps and answering queries, Col Amor said. The visa form is also available at Sanad offices, added Col Amor, who explained that it was agreed with the Ministry of Manpower to designate some of Sanad offices to facilitate the filling of the visa form. Col Amor said that no additional fees are paid for the service and confirmed that the new system, which still in its early stages, aims to cancel the fees payable for the visa form.
