MUSCAT -- Shaikh Abdullah bin Salim al Rowas, Minister of Regional Municipalities, Environment and Water Resources, yesterday inaugurated a sprawling new showroom of Al Wasit Machinery Trading Establishment at Athaiba. Towering cranes and construction equipment decoratively encircled the strategically located building for the opening ceremony attended by a large number of government officials and customers, including senior management personnel of major contracting companies and consultants. Present on the occasion were Abdul Qader Ahmed Mohammed al Ali, Chairman, Mohammed Abdul Qader, Managing Director, and V Ganesh, Chief Operating Officer of Al Wasit.

Customers in Oman are familiar with Al Wasit for quite sometime and this led to the company starting a full-fledged operation here with the new office, showroom and after-sales facilities, Ganesh said. Vision is the art of seeing what is invisible to others and Al Wasit, which started this business a couple of decades back, is now marching towards the billion dirham mark with a team of professionals who are keen and intent on making Al Wasit Group a one stop solution for all heavy equipment needs, Ganesh said.

During the past few years, Al Wasit spread its geographical reach to 30 countries across the Middle East, Africa, Asia and the CIS region. With the increased activity, the company undertook the responsibility to provide product support services to customers looking forward to long-term relations with them. With this in mind, Al Wasit is in the process of expanding its network in Qatar, Iran and Sudan, Ganesh said. Al Wasit, with its active presence as supplier of heavy construction equipment in the region for over two decades, provides value added support to the construction industry involved in infrastructure development. The new and large equipment and parts showroom, sales office and workshop facilities complement the two-year presence of Al Wasit in Oman.

With the large and modern facility, Al Wasit is now in a position to provide better sales and product support services in Oman, Ganesh said.
Al Wasit offers a wide range of equipment, including earthmoving, road construction, concrete and asphalt plants, materials handling, transportation and other allied products. Work tools and attachments by leading manufacturers include Hyundai construction equipment, Sumitomo excavators, GEHL skid steer loaders, Faresin telehandlers, Puyuan (AWM) truck cranes, Randon trucks and semi-trailers, Hanwoo concrete pumps, CAMC concrete mixers and SIM asphalt batching plants.

"We are not here to sell equipment but to provide solutions to heavy equipment needs. We specialise in understanding customer requirements and providing a suitable solution to the requirements rather than only selling equipment. This is something which has made us stand out against the competitor friends in this industry. We strongly believe that we should never be doing things that others can do and will do things when there are things which others cannot and will not do. This has been the driving force behind Al Wasit and we constantly try for improvement by raising the bar all the time," Ganesh noted.

"The rapid infrastructure development being witnessed in Oman is only the tip of the iceberg of what is coming in terms of further development activities. Oman is progressing by leaps and bounds and Al Wasit is keen to be a part of this development from close quarters. This is only the beginning of our dreams in Oman and we look forward to replicating our success story here," Ganesh added.
