MUSCAT -- The Omani Centre for Investment Promotion and Export Development (Ociped) has updated the Oman TradeMap for the year 2006. The Oman TradeMap is an internet database established by the Ociped in 2001 in coordination with International Trade Centre (ITC) Geneva. Oman TradeMap provides indicators for monitoring and benchmarking Oman's export performance, identifying potential for market and product diversification and assessing the role of competitors in international markets. Aiman Ambusaidi, director of Export Development, informed that Ociped has updated Oman TradeMap with 2006 import and export data. Exporters can access the same through Ociped website.

Oman TradeMap also provides import duties applicable for 5,000 different products in over 200 countries. Oman TradeMap covers over 90 per cent of world trade. Oman TradeMap has information on some of the following topics like what are the world largest importing countries for a product; countries which are the most competitive suppliers of a product; major competitors at the global level as well as for specific target markets; information on dynamic markets. Questions like how has Oman's market share evolved, in absolute terms and in comparison with its competitors; what is the demand in major export markets for related products, offering opportunities for export product diversification; and what is the actual and potential trade between any two countries are also answered here. Aiman Ambusaidi urged exporters to visit Ociped website (www.ociped.com) to get all market intelligence.
