NISOC Marks Progress On Gas Reinjection

The National Iranian South Oil Company (NISOC), which contributes around three-quarters of Iranian oil production, reinjects “over 90mn cfd” of gas in its 10 main oil fields, according to NISOC production director Abdolamir Hovaizavi. The fields are Bibi Hakimeh, Gachsaran, Haftkel, Maroun, Ramshir, Karanj, Parsi, Paznan, Kupal and Aghajari. The gas is mainly associated gas produced by NISOC, but significant quantities are also provided by the National Iranian Gas Company (NIGC) and the Iranian Central Oil Fields Company (ICOFC).

Iran dedicates more than 20% of its natural gas output to reinjection in a bid to compensate for natural reservoir depletion, which amount to 200,000-400,000 b/d per year according to data provided to OPEC by the Iranian Ministry of Petroleum. In May Mohsen Khojasteh, Iran’s Deputy Minister of Petroleum for Planning, said that Tehran would triple its allocation of gas for reinjection to 330mn cmd by March 2015 (MEES, 23 May).
