SHARJAH, Mar. 10th, 2009: A theatrical show of "Nimrod" will be performed on Wednesday at the American University in Sharjah (AUS) by a company of students from Britian's Sheffield University.
The "Nimrod", a paly authored by H.H Dr Sheikh Sultan bin Mohammed Al-Qasimi, UAE Supreme Council member and ruler of Sharjah, is a dramitization of the story of the cruel and wicked Mesopotamian monarch who built the famous Tower of Babel and is said to be the founder of many cities. The tyrranical king Nimrod is said to have been driven out of his mind by a gnat or mosquito which went through his nose up to his brain to inflcit pain on him as a divine retribution; the pain could only be alleviated by beating Nimrod's head.Copyright Emirates News Agency (WAM) 2009.
