JEDDAH: The Jeddah City Council decided on Monday to introduce various measures to increase health awareness among the public. The decision was made at a meeting held at the headquarters of the Health Directorate that was chaired by Director of the Health Affairs Department in Jeddah Dr. Sami Badawood.

Participants discussed ways to administer quick vaccinations to new primary school students, and steps to avoid human fatalities from insecticides and how government departments could celebrate international health days.

"The meeting was held to raise health awareness of citizens and expatriates by pooling together various departments in addition to preparing a clear-cut action plan," said Abdul Rahman Al-Sehafi, director of public relations at the Health Affairs Department in Jeddah.

Participants included Director of Medical Supervision in the Department of Education Mahmoud Al-Sayyed, Director of Public Relations at the Jeddah municipality Muhammad Al-Yami, Head of the Department of Health Awareness at the Primary Health Care Department Munirah Balahmar, Director of Health Administration at the Department of Girls Schools Sonia Al-Maliki, Khaled Al-Lehyani from the Ministry of Culture and Information and Khaled Al-Shahrani from the Primary Health Care Department. Adel Basudan is the team's coordinator.
