Al Waha is to present a revised technical proposal by the end of May for developing the Ahdab oilfield in Iraq, according to Iraqi Oil Minister Hussain Shahristani.
The proposal involves drilling horizontally from a single well at Ahdab in order to preserve valuable agricultural land. The Chinese had a $700 million deal for Ahdab with Baghdad before the 2003 invasion and occupation of Iraq.
