Bahrain - A new private hospital in the country opened its doors to public yesterday.

Al Salam Specialist Hospital in Buhair was opened by Supreme Council for Health (SCH) chairman Dr Shaikh Mohammed bin Abdulla Al Khalifa at a ceremony held under his patronage.

The 100-bed hospital with 11 floors has 32 outpatient clinics, 14 royal suites, a 24-hour pharmacy, eight intensive care beds, 10 nursery beds, two neonatal intensive care units, 13 emergency beds, five fully-equipped operation theatres, three fully-equipped labour rooms, a gastrointestinal endoscopy unit and 260 parking spaces.

Present at the opening were the hospital’s directors’ board chairman Dr Jamal Saleh, vice-chairman Dr Abdulmajed Al Awadhi, chief executive Dr Ramez Elawady, King Hamad University Hospital Commander Major General Dr Shaikh Salman bin Ateyatallah Al Khalifa, National Health Regulatory Authority CEO Dr Maryam Al Jalahma, shareholders, board members, staff, guests and dignitaries.
