Unilever has set up a new team for the Middle East and North Africa.

Called NAME, it will include a leadership group to conduct business across four business areas. These are: Maghreb (including Morocco, Tunisia, Algeria, Libya), Mashreq (Egypt, Lebabnon, Palestine, Jordan, Iraq, Sudan, Syria), Kingdom of Saudi Arabia and the Gulf (UAE, Oman, Bahrain, Kuwait, Qatar, Yemen).

NAME will be lead by Jan Zijderveld, chairman of Unilever ME and the GCC Advertising Association.

"Unilever operating companies in the region have a history of meeting local tastes and budgets. We will continue to leverage Unilever's global R&D resources, backed by creative thinking and working practices, to adapt global brands to local needs and cement Unilever and its brands in a region set to be a growth engine for the business for years to come," he said.

NAME's portfolio will combine food, home and personal care brands, such as Lipton, Lux, Sunsilk and Knorr.

Chris Key will lead Maghreb as MD, Khaled Fayed is MD for Masreq, Ramesh Lal is MD for KSA and Rod Maxfield is MD for the Gulf.
