RIYADH: Etihad Etisalat (Mobily) said it has offered new subscribers to the "Connect Laptop" package free Internet access from 4 a.m. to 7 p.m. over Ramadan.

In a statement issued by the company on Friday, new subscribers can enjoy the offer once they subscribe, while current subscribers can also obtain the same deal by paying a small extra premium.

Earlier this year, Mobily slashed Internet prices after reducing the 2 GB bundle to SR60 and the 5 GB to SR100.

The company, which is preparing for the launch of LTE (Long Term Evolution), also known as 4G, has more than 2.3 million customers subscribed to Mobily's three high-volume mobile broadband bundles. Today its high-speed mobile broadband service is available in 93 percent of all populated areas of the Kingdom to any Mobily customer using a device that supports HSPA/HSPA+ technology.

Monthly traffic, uploads and downloads by customers have grown in 2010 to reach more than 80 terabytes compared to 50 terabytes the previous year.

In 2008, the GSM World Association described Mobily as having the busiest mobile data network on the planet.
