ABU DHABI, 22 SEP, 04 (WAM) - The new Microsoft Technology Center (MTC)at Microsoft's DIC office was inaugurated by Ahmed Bin Byat, DirectorGeneral of Dubai Technology and Media Free Zone, in the presence of OmarBin Sulaiman, director general of Dubai International Financial Centerand Abdullatif Al Mulla, General Manager of Microsoft South Gulf, yesterdayafternoon.
The MTC has been designed to replicate almost any customer environment,with over 45 servers running more than 75 processors, a large number ofworkstations and a Storage Area Network with over 2TB of storage,according to reports in the UAE's dailies.
The centre is one of ten MTCs worldwide, apart from US, UK, Tokyo andParis. Although, it is the first to serve the Gulf region. It will providethree main types of service to customers, which includes, Envision & StrategyBriefings, to provide customers with business information on how theycan deploy technologies that will create business benefits, ArchitecturalDesign Sessions, that will help customers align IT solutions with theirbusiness processes and Proof of Concept Workshops, to validate and testsolutions, according to Haider Saloum, marketing manager, South Gulf.
Ahmed Bin Byat, director general of Dubai Technology and Media Free zone,said: 'DIC is a place where ICT companies come together to explore howtechnologies can make a difference to the way they operate, and the MicrosoftTechnology Center reflects this spirit of collaboration.? The facilityincludes an envisioning room, a briefing room and two proofs of conceptrooms. The MTC is also accessed separately from the main Microsoft office,and is fully secured to ensure that customer?s proprietary data and strategiesare kept safe.
Dr Omar bin Sulaiman, director general of Dubai International FinancialCenter, said: 'The Microsoft Technology Center provides the best environmentfor businesses to identify and test the right solutions for the developmentof their business.' This centre took eight months to complete and Microsoft?sglobal partners, Fujitsu Siemens supplied the hardware, while APC providedthe server infrastructure and power supplies, and Avocent created thenetworking infrastructure.
