Muscat - The National Centre for Statistics and Information (NCSI) on Tuesday launched its new brand identity under the patronage of Sultan bin Salim al Habsi, secretary general of the Supreme Council for Planning and chairman of board of directors, NCSI.
Habsi said, "NCSI's vision of promoting knowledge is reflected in the design of the new identity.
Today marks a new beginning for NCSI as the primary source for reliable statistical information which will further aid social and economic development of the sultanate.
"The new identity translates the goals and visions which the centre aims to achieve, highlighting its important mission as the official source of data and statistical information related to all aspects of life in the sultanate, as well as being the entity that publishes social, economic and environmental information."
Dr Khalifa bin Abdullah al Barwani, CEO of NCSI, "The new identity symbolises the vital role played by the centre in collecting and disseminating data.
"The launch of the identity marks the beginning of a new era for the centre that will witness many new programmes and initiatives to spread knowledge across Oman."
Commenting on the new identity, Barwani added, "The design has been inspired by the map of Oman. Each part of the logo points to a specific goal of the centre and embodies the transformation of data into knowledge. The colours used in the design take on specific meanings, with white symbolising transparency, blue representing technology and the economy and green representing the environment and social development."
Barwani added that the centre is preparing to conduct a number of new surveys and censuses. "There is strong support from the Supreme Council for Planning to conduct the 2020 census electronically, using advanced data collection methods, which will be a turning point with regard to census projects. Extensive availability of social, economic and environmental statistics made available by NCSI on its website, mobile applications and social media have been helpful for researchers, government and private institutions."
Since its establishment as per the Royal Decree 31/2012, NCSI has been using latest data collection methods to provide accurate information keeping in mind various stakeholders, decision makers and the community.
