A contract has been signed for the operation and management of a new hotel and resort in Madinah, being built by Radisson-SAS Group, which is a subsidiary of Residor-SAS, a leading international company in the field of hotels and resorts. The name of the new hotel will be Basateen Al Madinah-Radisson-SAS.
The contract was signed by Dr. Ibrahim Masood, President of Al Razi Co. for Medical Equipmnet and Tourist Resorts, and Mr. John Mark Bosato, Vice President of Radisson-SAS Hospitality Group of Middle East. The signing was done in the Radisson-SAS Hotel, Jeddah.
Dr. Ibrahim Masood stated that opening of the hotel and resort is expected to be some time in the middle of 2007, in Madinah. The cost of the project is SR 60 million. The hotel complex will have 212 rooms, 10 villas, a royal suite and the largest party/marriage hall in Madinah. The resort and the hotel are to be located at about 3 kilometers from the Prophet's Mosque. He added that Madinah City hosts about 1 million Haj pilgrims every year, and this figure is going to increase considerably after the government's approval to allow Madinah Airport to receive international flights, and making it an international airport. Umrah visitors are also now expected to come to Madinah nine months of the year except the period of Haj.
