MUSCAT -- Oxford Business Group (OBG), the global publishing, research and consultancy firm, is preparing for another successful year in Oman by teaming up once again with the audit, tax and consulting firm Abu Timam Grant Thornton.

The partnership, which dates back to 2009, will see Abu Timam Grant Thornton work closely with OBG's research and editorial team to produce the tax section of The Report: Oman 2012, the Group's forthcoming business guide on the Sultanate's economic activity and investment opportunities. The international business advisory company will provide in-depth analysis of Oman's tax framework while considering legislative changes that could be on the horizon.

OBG's Country Director, Nihan Alan, said she was delighted to be embarking on a fourth year of collaboration with Abu Timam Grant Thornton for the Group's forthcoming report, which is expected to explore Oman's progress in driving forward a programme of fast-paced reforms.

"Our reports on Oman have provided wide-ranging coverage of the Sultanate's plans to bring the private sector centre stage, especially small and medium-sized enterprises, and prepare the younger generation to play a key role in economic development," she said.

"Abu Timam Grant Thornton's team have a high level of expertise in their field which has undoubtedly given our tax analysis an added dimension over the years. I look forward to pooling resources with them once again as we begin the groundwork for our new report."

Alan added that the partnership with Abu Timam Grant Thornton had supported the Group's commitment to providing readers with the most accurate data available and key analysis across the Omani economy at a time when legislative changes were gaining momentum.

Nasser al Mughairy, Managing Partner at Abu Timam Grant Thornton said that Oman's changing business landscape heightened the need to ensure investors were provided with a full working knowledge of Oman's fiscal framework.

"Oman continues to build on its strengths, which are spearheaded by an educated workforce, as part of its drive to retain a competitive edge in the region and attract investors," he said.

The Report: Oman 2012 will be a vital guide to the many facets of the Sultanate, including its macroeconomics, infrastructure, political landscape, banking and other sectoral developments. The forthcoming publication will include a detailed, sector-by-sector guide for foreign investors. It will provide extensive coverage of the Sultanate's regional development, with a focus on Sohar and Salalah. The Report: Oman 2012 will also feature a wide range of interviews with the most prominent political, economic and business leaders.
