NEPCO Prequalifies Bidders For Jordan’s Third IPP Project

Jordan’s National Electric Power Company (NEPCO) pre-qualified six bidders for a project to build the country’s third independent power project (IPP), the company announced on 5 December. The bid was issued on 30 August for the proposed IPP3 plant in 'Amman. The prequalified companies/groups are: KEPCO and Mitsubishi; AES Athens Holding; ACWA Power International, Man Diesel and Turbo SE; Malakoff, Jordan Dubai Capital and Consolidated Contractors Group (CCC); Saudi Oger and Korea East West Power Company; and Sithe Global Power Ventures. NEPCO expects to issue request for proposal (RFP) documents by the second half of December while proposals will be due in March 2011. Jordan inaugurated in October 2009 its first IPP, the ʹAmman East Power Project (MEES, 2 November 2009).
