Tunis - A study by the World Bank (WB) on the car insurance sector in Tunisia recommended the establishment of a database that will allow applying the reward system to develop the sector which is facing difficulties.

The study, whose recommendations were presented, Monday in Tunis, in the presence of government officials and experts called for the implementation of the agreements signed between insurance companies to speed up the pace of compensation to the insured, said a Finance Ministry press release.

The same study recommends the compulsory insurance of motorcycles, in addition to the setting up of registration system of these motorcycles.

The desired goal is to allow these companies to insure motorcycles on technical bases.

It also aims to enhance the role of the insurance sector in the protection against road accidents.

Secretary of State for Finance Boutheina Ben Yaghlane emphasised the importance of this study which could constitute the core of the continuous reform programme of the insurance sector to ensure qualitative improvement of its services and develop its financial indices, the statement added.
