Pakistan's former prime minister Nawaz Sharif and his younger brother Shahbaz Sharif, now living in exile in Jeddah, have split their joint family assets and business in Saudi Arabia, England and Pakistan.
According to family insiders, the two have divided their joint family assets and business following the death of their father, Mian Sharif last year.
However, the family sources say, the third brother, Abbas Sharif refused to separate his assets and authorised Nawaz Sharif to look after them.
Differences between the Sharif brothers arose after Shahbaz Sharif, former Punjab chief minister, got married for the third time to Tehmina Durrani in 2003.
After the family got to know of the marriage, Mian Sharif, alive at the time, asked Nawaz Sharif to partition Shahbaz's assets.
Shahbaz owns Ramazan Sugar Mill, while Chaudhry Sugar Mill and Hamza Chipboard and Paper Mill would remain in Nawaz's custody.
The family circles said that Shahbaz also got the Sharifs' main business offices at 6-A New Muslim Town, Lahore, while Nawaz opened a new office at 70 Abu Bakar Block, Lahore.
