MUSCAT -- The much-awaited Khimji's Supermarket at MBD, set to become a new landmark in this area, announced the commencement of operations yesterday. The directors of Khimji's Mart LLC, Kanak G Khimji, and Nailesh Khimji were present at the inaugural function. Khimji's Mart, MBD is the fifteenth supermarket of the Khimji's Retail Division. Khimji's Mart today is the largest chain of supermarkets in Oman, with six of them in the capital and the others in interior locations of the country catering to the daily household needs of the citizens over the last two decades. The quick growth in the hinterland over the last few years stems from the Group's strategy to consolidate its presence in the organised retail industry in Oman by opening outlets in both category 'A' and 'B' towns.
"The objectives of opening such stores has been twofold -- firstly to provide consumer with convenient shopping within their reach but more importantly to generate employment for young Omanis. This helps not only in the employment but also in the development of the local economy," said Nailesh Khimji -- Director, Khimji Ramdas. Officials of Khimji's Mart underscored the fact that their supermarket is located in the heart of the capital and with ample parking available the people living in CBD, Al Wadi al Kabir, MBD, Muttrah, Muscat and Ruwi would benefit greatly from the opening of the new Khimji's Mart in MBD.
The newly-opened MBD Khimji's Mart spanning over 30,000 sq ft houses a wide range of products catering to the daily needs of the consumers and gives them the best convenience and value for the entire needs of the family. The store provides not only the regular grocery products but also has a fresh produce section where you can buy fresh vegetables and fruits.
There is also a separate section for meat and poultry products. Several more special offers on food and nonfood, plastics, crockery, fruits and vegetables and accessories are available at the outlet. Khimji's Mart, MBD, showcases apparel and accessories for the entire family including women's wear, kid's wear, men's wear; ladies accessories; personal care products; baby care products, stationery, toys, footwear, plastics, home care products, household products, gift articles, food products and kitchen equipment shop amongst others. The supermarket houses a Pharmacy from the Pharmaceutical Division of Khimji Ramdas, 3G shop-in-shop for a complete range of mobile handsets and accessories and Muscat Bakery for confectionery and bakery products.
