MUSCAT: Have a smartphone? Well, you have a reason to be happier if the answer is in the affirmative.

For, you will now be able to complete your tenancy agreement renewal applications and parking permission renewal applications, and avail yourself of the parking fine payment service, in addition to the services of Muscat Municipality through your smartphone applications.

All this becomes possible as Muscat Municipality launched a new package of electronic services (e-services). The package was unveiled under the auspices of Eng. Sultan bin Hamdoon Al Harthy, chairman of Muscat Municipality, at the civic body's pavilion at Comex 2011.

The package also includes parking ticket purchase service and 'My Notes' application that enables the user to send notes along with pictures as the location of the notes is determined automatically by the application.

Mohammed bin Salim Al Braiki, deputy director of the Administrative Affairs at the Information Technology Department, Muscat Municipality, said the municipality had chalked out a detailed working plan to unveil these unique packages.

The objective, he said, was to match the advanced level of e-services provided by most of the governmental institutions in the Sultanate.

Al Braiki added that during Comex 2011 there would be a daily feedback competition on the Muscat Municipality website about the services offered by the civic body. Participants can submit their answers to the questions using the same link of the website. The winners stand to gain valuable prizes, he said.

All activities carried out by Muscat Municipality aim at providing fundamental benefits to the public and from time to time the thrust is on innovation to achieve the same.
