TEHRAN - Turkcell out, MTN in. The Mobile Telephone Network (MTN) of South Africa finally receives 49% partnership in Iran's Second Operator cell phone project. The license agreement came about after the South African company finally allocated $2b of IranCell's shares to itself, a source at IranCell Company reported on Tuesday.
By commissioning the project, the government would receive 18,600 billion rials from the sale of SIM cards in the next 15 years alone. In addition, there will be other revenues obtained from domestic communication charges for as much as Rls.23,000b, international service charges for as much as Rls.8,270b, network partnership share for as much as Rls.71,000b and custom's tariffs as much as Rls.620b for the nation's treasury.
Moreover, the amount collected from frequency dedicated GSM (global system for mobile communication), a method of time and frequency division for expanding bandwidth as the numbers of subscribers increase, would stand at 1,640 billion rials.
Based on the report, the implementation of Second Operator cell phone project is going to create over 30,000 jobs in direct employment, trade partners and distribution channels sectors for the country.
