Head of Islamic Parliament's Social Affairs Commission Abdor-Reza Azizi said here Wednesday at threshold of Presidential Election political activists should observe ethical values and rules of justice in their analyses and in expressing opinion.
Azizi added in an interview with the IRNA correspondent in Dezful, 'Those individuals who believe by propagating negative ideas, ruing the others' personalities and launching campaign against the competitors they can attract the people's attention towards themselves are making a grave mistake.'
He added, 'The election scene is a campaign field on one side of which there is sound competition of the hopefuls and on its other side there is the power struggle of the sworn enemies of the Islamic system.
The MP added, 'Therefore, the political trends must in addition to abiding by the exalted values of the revolution and the viewpoints of the Supreme Leader, and meanwhile not forget the enmity of the global Zionism and the international oppressor powers.'
The head of Islamic Parliament's Social Affairs Commission said, 'Safeguarding national unity and harmony within the system during the remaining months to the elections is of great importance and the sign of having high insight and in this regard the role of the media, the political parties and activists, and also the universities is very significant.'
Azizi elsewhere in the interview elaborated on the reasons for the enmity of the global oppression against the Islamic system and the imposed sanction against Iran on pretext of the country's nuclear energy program, reiterating, 'The Islamic Republic of Iran's main dispute with the United States and the Zionism is over the independence of the Islamic system and the influence of the Islamic Revolution of Iran over the neighboring countries, which is reflected in the wave of the Islamic awakening movements in the region.'
The MP said, 'The past experience of the system has proved the fact that the ill wishers of the sacred system of Islamic Republic have always been humiliated thanks to well comprehension of the needs of the time by talented Iranian nation, and been deprived of achieving their malicious and wicked objectives.'
He said, 'Considering the Supreme Leader's remarks as the ultimate words, considering the Constitution as the measure stick for every affair, and abiding by the exalted ideals of the late Imam (Khomeini - P) and the martyrs of the revolution are the three inviolable rules that ht entire political personalities, groups and trends must pay particular attention to them.'
The head of Islamic Parliament's Social Affairs Commission at the end advised the entire political parties and groups to remain alert, have deep insight, and to fully abide by the will of the Supreme Leader of the Islamic Revolution.
The President of Iran is the highest official elected by direct popular vote, but does not control foreign policy or the armed forces. Candidates have to be vetted by the Guardian Council, a twelve member body consisting of six clerics (selected by Iran's Supreme Leader) and six lawyers (proposed by the head of Iran's judicial system and voted in by the Parliament).
Iran's tenth presidential election was held on 12 June 2009, with incumbent Mahmoud Ahmadinejad running against three challengers. The next morning the Islamic Republic News Agency, Iran's official news agency, announced that with two-thirds of the votes counted, Ahmadinejad had won the election with 62% of the votes cast, and that Mir-Hossein Mousavi had received 34% of the votes cast.
