Movenpick Hotels & Resorts (MH&R) has signed a management agreement for a second hotel in Jeddah, making this new venture its third in Saudi Arabia. The property belongs to the Al Mussallam Group.

Following the recently signed agreements in Dubai and Sanaa, this latest hotel in Jeddah is now part of the portfolio of the Swiss hotel chain.

The Movenpick Hotel Jeddah is set to be established as a business hotel located in the city's commercial and banking district, next to the offices of the Ministry of Interior, various shopping centres and a 10-minute drive from Jeddah International Airport.

The project will feature 210 deluxe rooms, inclusive of 18 executive suites, with the opening phase set for early this year.

Also on the feature will be an all-day restaurant overlooking the swimming pool, a lobby cafe and an Asian specialty restaurant. The hotel will also provide specialised meeting facilities comprising a large meeting room with a private lounge for up to 150 delegates in addition to four day-lit break-out rooms of 50 square metres each.

The final phase of the hotel will include an additional ballroom of approximately 800 square metres.

Andreas Mattmuller, senior vice-president for the Middle East at MH&R, said: "This new project strengthens Movenpick's position in Saudi Arabia and enables us to expand our network across the Gulf countries in strategic locations."

Movenpick Hotels & Resorts currently enjoys representation with 48 hotels in 14 countries, with 14 more projects under development or in the process of construction.

In the Middle East, it is present in Jordan, Egypt, Qatar, Morocco, Tunisia, Saudi Arabia, Kuwait, the UAE and Lebanon.
