Dubai: Swiss group Movenpick has opened a five-star hotel in the Yemeni capital of Sanaa. The 338-room hotel will target both business and leisure travellers.

The Movenpick Hotel Sanaa has views of the Old City of Sanaa from its location on a hill. The hotel is situated seven minutes from the city centre and 20 minutes from the Sanaa International Airport.

The hotel is equipped with Public Wireless LAN throughout.

According to the hotel's general manager Roger Tannous, "The Movenpick Hotel Sanaa is the largest and most exclusive hotel in the city and sets new standards for the hotel industry in Sanaa, reflecting our contribution to the promotion of tourism in the region.

"Sana'a offers a great deal to both business and leisure travellers, and we look forward to pampering our guests in the spirit of true Swiss hospitality," Tannous said.

"Yemen was one of the few white spots on the map of our expansion into the Middle East," explains Andreas Mattmller, Senior vice-president Middle East, Movenpick Hotels and Resorts.
