RABAT, April 26 (KUNA) -- Morocco and Kuwait said here Thursday in a final communique following the wrapping-up of their joint committee that it was important to promote common Arab action.
The Joint Moroccan-Kuwaiti Committee voiced deep satisfaction with resolutions made during the recent Riyadh Arab summit, particularly the resolution bearing on an Arab summit for economic and social development affairs, which was proposed by Kuwait and Egypt.
In their final communique, both sides showed full support for all initiatives and efforts aiming to find a standing, just and final settlement to the Palestinian issue and the Arab-Israeli conflict.
They called on all Arab countries to support the new Palestinian national unity government as a springboard for building bridges with the international community to push forward the Middle East peace process.
They believed that the Arab peace initiative, which was adopted by the Arab leaders during the Beirut 2002 Arab summit, constituted an appropriate framework that is conducive to just and total peace in the region.
In relation to Iraq, both sides expressed dismay at the latest tragic developments in Iraq, including terrorist attacks against Iraqi civilians.
In this context, Morocco and Kuwait urged the Iraqi people to bury the hatchet and get united against such terrorist acts that pose a menace to security and stability in Iraq where the situation is already volatile.
On Lebanon, they expressed hope that the country could restore security and stability as early as possible, calling on all Lebanese factions involved to enter into national reconciliation.
On Sudan, both sides supported the Sudanese government's efforts to achieve stability in Darfur region, urging the international community to support efforts for stability and peace in this Arab country.
On Somalia, they expressed worry over insecurity and instability in the country, asking all warring Somali factions to stop infighting and adopt the spirit of national reconciliation.
They reiterated Arab calls for a WMD-free Middle East, urging the international community to request Israel to join the Non-Proliferation Treaty (NPT) and give UN inspectors access to its nuclear facilities.
Concerning Iran, Rabat and Kuwait asked Iran, International Atomic Energy Agency (IAEA) and parties involved to continue earnest and constructive dialogue with the aim of finding a solution to the Iranian nuclear standoff.
Meanwhile, they expressed satisfaction with the distinguished level of bilateral relations by virtue of the firm will and wise directives of His Highness the Amir of Kuwait Sheikh Sabah Al-Ahmad Al-Jaber Al-Sabah and Moroccan King Mohammed VI regarding the further development and promotion of bilateral cooperation in various fields.
They also extolled the outcomes of a recent visit paid by HH the Amir of Kuwait to Morocco, which embodied the aspects of brotherly and friendly ties between both countries' leaders and peoples.
Respecting countries' territorial integrity, both sides reviewed international efforts to find a final political accommodation to Morocco's Western Sahara.
They finally supported the values of benevolence, moderation, dialogue and peaceful coexistence, and condemned all forms of terrorism and extremism.
The seventh meeting of both countries' joint committee is to be held in Kuwait, with a date to be set through diplomatic channels.
