Abu Dhabi: Hassan Moosa of Abu Dhabi emerged as the star after winning the Open category title in the 2nd Emirates Cup for Brazilian Jiu Jitsu championship held here over the weekend.
Hassan made it a double triumph for he first topped in the under-73-kg category to win his first gold. In the under-73 final, Hassan Moosa scored over UAE's Khalifa Al Qubeisi.
Hassan had beaten Kuwait's Yousef Al Hamad while Khalifa also overcame another Kuwaiti fighter Yousef Abdullah in the semifinal.
In the Open category, Hassan Moosa, Ammar Al Ahmad, Mohammad Al Qubeisi and Ali Al Zaabi made it to the final four. Hassan defeated Mohammad Al Qubeisi while Ammar got the better of Ali Al Zaabi in an all-UAE semifinal. In the final, Hassan completed a golden double with a point's verdict over Ammar.
Jordan's fighters came up with a good display winning two titles. In the 81-kg event, Zaid Abu Alsowed defeated Abu Dhabi's Chad Bellwood to win the final. The event, organised for the second year in succession, was sponsored by the Armed Forces Officer's Club (AFOC).
Maj. Gen. Mohammad Hilal Al Kaabi, Deputy Chief of Staff and Chairman of AFOC along with Naser Tameemi of Abu Dhabi Combat Club attended the event.
