ABU DHABI, July 23th, 2013 (WAM) -- In collaboration with the General Authority for Islamic Affairs and Endowments, the Public Relations Department at the Ministry of Interior organised a religious lecture under the title: "Ramadan - Month of Work and Worship". The lecture was held at the Al Ittihad Hall at the Ministry?s headquarters, and was delivered by Sheikh Omar bin Hussein Bin Omar, a guest of President His Highness Sheikh Khalifa bin Zayed Al Nahyan.
The lecture embodied the Ministry of Interior?s keenness to enhance and disseminate religious awareness among staff members; acquaint them with religious values, and remind them of the importance of humanitarian work, good deeds and charity during the Holy Month. Sheikh Omar emphasised the need to dedicate the Holy Month to praying, reading from the Quran and becoming closer to Allah through benevolent work and payers, and other good deeds. "When the month of Ramadan comes, the Gates of Heaven are thrown open for everyone to invest in good manners and diligent work during this month", said Sheikh Omar, reciting verses of the Holy Quran and the Hadith. He indicated that Ramadan is the month of patience; and fasting is one of the greatest acts of worship performed in Ramadan and the reward of patience is Paradise. Sheikh Omar also emphasised the importance of worship in the last ten days and Laylat al-Qadr, or the Night of Power, coming close to Allah through benevolent work, calling on people to take advantage of this Holy Month through good manners, as well as through Zakat and charity. The lecture was attended by Colonel Hussein Mahmoud Al Awadhi, Director of the Ministry?s Public Relations Department, and a number of officers, non-commissioned officers, individuals, civilians, and ministry employees.Copyright Emirates News Agency (WAM) 2013.
