Doha: A workshop on 'Documentation of work procedures and internal auditing' was opened at the Police Training Institute on Sunday, with the attendance of 51 officers of the Ministry of Interior (MoI) from various MoI departments. The workshop, held by the Strategic Planning Department of the MoI, will continue until September 27.

The Director of Strategic Planning Department Col Abdul Rahman Majid Al Sulaiti and head of Quality Systems Section Capt Abdul Rahman Wadia Al Taweel attended the workshop.

The workshop aims at introducing about documentation and its benefits, responsibility of preparing, reviewing and releasing documents, types of documents, rules of writing documents, map of auditing, reviewing procedures of documentation, identifying areas of improvement and specifying the material, human and training needs.

Colonel Abdul Rahman Majid Al Sulaiti said that the Interior Ministry has paid considerable attention to documented work procedures and performance assessment in all departments of the ministry. Thus the Strategic Planning Department designed training courses and workshops to train and qualify employees of the ministry.

Training in performance evaluation was done in July and now the training is conducted on documentation procedures and internal audit on implementation of departmental procedures.

He also noted that the department had carried out many successful experiments in a number of departments to raise the performance level such as work procedures guide that has played a major role in improving the services offered by the ministry to the public.

He urged the participants in the session to take advantage of all that they receive from theoretical and practical lectures and apply it in practice so that its benefits will reflects positively on the public.

Capt Abdul Rahman said that the Interior Ministry is working to improve and develop work systems in various departments to improve the quality of services provided to the public. The training on documentation procedures and internal audit will do a lot in this regard, he observed. Three training courses are being conducted in each subject as part of preparing qualified Qatari cadres in all departments of the ministry.

Capt Al Taweel emphasised the importance of internal audit as modern management systems emphasises on the importance and the quality of monitoring mechanism and ongoing review of the effectiveness of the applying laid down policies and work procedures.
