Seoul, 27 May 2010 (WAM) - General H.H. Sheikh Mohammed bin Zayed Al Nahyan, crown prince of Abu Dhabi and deputy supreme commander of the UAE Armed Forces, who is currently visiting South Korea met here today with its Prime Minister Chung Un-chan.

During the meeting attended by Foreign Minster H.H. Sheikh Abdullah bin Zayed Al Nahyan, Sheikh Mohammed conveyed to Un-chan greetings of Vice President and Prime Minister of UAE and Ruler of Dubai His Highness Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum. He also offered condolence on the victims of the South Korean warship sinking incident.

The South Korean Prime Minister welcomed Sheikh Mohammed and recalled the achievements and humanitarian stances of the late Sheikh Zayed bin Sultan Al Nahyan.

He praised the wise policies of President His Highness Sheikh Khalifa bin Zayed Al Nahyan who continues march for development in all fields.

Sheikh Mohammed thanked Un-chan and said: "the late Sheikh Zayed was not just our father, but the father of the whole people of the UAE.""My brother His Highness Sheikh Khalifa bin Zayed Al Nahyan is following the footsteps of his father in serving citizens of the UAE and preparing them to contribute in the country's development and to take part in shaping the bright future for the generations to come," he added.

He continued by saying: "we agree that human resources are considered the key driver for sustainable development and the future for any nation that seeks prosperity and progress.

"Our visit to Korea has contributed in opening wider horizons for new and diverse investments."Sheikh Mohammed extended an invitation to the Korean Prime Minister to visit the UAE. The latter accepted the invitation for the visit and said that the UAE was considered one Korea's key partners in the region.

"We share your aspirations to see your country as a gateway for Korea to the Middle East and we renew our keenness to foster our relations and strategic cooperation with the UAE for the benefit of the people of the two friendly countries," he said.

The Korean Prime Minister asked Sheikh Mohammed to pass on his greetings to Vice President and Prime Minister of UAE and Ruler of Dubai His Highness Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum.

Present during the meeting were Mohammed Ahmed Al Bowardi, Secretary General of the Abu Dhabi Executive Council, Khaldoon Khalifa Al Mubarak, Chairman of the Executive Affairs Authority, Nasser Ahmed Al Suwaidi, Chairman of Abu Dhabi Department for Economic Development, Dr Mugheer Khamis Al Khaili, Director General of Abu Dhabi Educational Council, Mohammed Mubarak Al Mazrouei, Secretary General of the Abu Dhabi Crown Prince's Court, Mohammed Ibrahim Al Hammadi, CEO of the Emirates Nuclear Energy Company, Abdullah Mohammed ABDUL Wahid Al Maena, UAE Ambassador to South Korea, and a number of officials.

Later, Sheikh Mohammed and Un-chan attended a ceremony held to launch the UAE-Korean Business council.

Sheikh Mohammed said the business council will play a significant role in boosting cooperation between the two countries.

Un-Chin expressed the hope that the council will complement the strategic cooperation which was started by the governments of the two countries and to expand the cooperation into a long-term partnership with the private sectors in fields that go beyond nuclear cooperation.

He urged the council members to do their best to tap more opportunities and to create more jobs in the UAE and Korea. He also pledged Korean government's full support to the council.

The ceremony saw a Memorandum of understanding for the establishment of the council which was signed by Khaldoon Khalifa Al Mubarak, Chairman of the Executive Affairs Authority and Bon Joon Koo, LG Chief Executive Officer.
