DUBAI, Sep. 7th, 2009: Vice President and Prime Minister of UAE and Ruler of Dubai His Highness Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum received a group of Muslim scholars and preachers who arrived earlier in the UAE at the invitation of President His Highness Sheikh Khalifa bin Zayed Al Nahyan.
At the meeting in Za'abeel Palace, Dubai, Sheikh Mohammed hailed the role scholars and preachers play in educating muslim populations about their religion, explaining the verses of Quran and Hadith (the oral traditions relating to the words and deeds of the Islamic prophet Muhammad Peace Be Upon Him). For their part, the scholars and preachers said they were glad to take part in Ramadn majlis (after-iftar forums) held nationwide throughout the holy month. Inviting Muslim scholars, scholars and prominent figures to stay in the country every Ramadan is a tradition set by the Late Founding Father of the UAE, Sheikh Zayed Bin Sultan Al Nahyan, and cherished by today's leadership of the UAE, they said. An ifatr banquet was later hosted by Sheikh Mohammed after performing the maghreb Jam'a' prayer (group sunset prayer). Present at the meeting and the banquet were H.H Sheikh Hamdan Bin Mohamemd Bin Rashid Al-Maktoum, Crown Prince of Dubai, H.H Sheikh Maktoum Bin Mohamemd Bin Rashid Al-Maktoum, Deputy Ruler of Dubai, H.H Sheikh Mansour Bin Mohamemd Bin Rashid Al-Maktoum and senior officails.Copyright Emirates News Agency (WAM) 2009.
