Dubai, March 26th, 2006 (WAM) - H.H. Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Vice President, Prime Minister and Ruler of Dubai received here today Dr. Mahmoud Mohieldin , Egyptian Investment Minister who conveyed to him an invitation by the Egyptian Prime Minister to visit his country.
During the meeting, Sheikh Mohammed and Dr. Mohieldin reviewed bilateral relations and means to enhance them. They also discussed potentials for joint investment ventures. Later, Sheikh Mohammed was decorated with the medal of Feigenbaum Leadership Excellence Award when he received Dr Tito Conti, Chairman of the International Academy for Quality today. Tito decorated Sheikh Mohammed on behalf of Dr Armand V. Feigenbaum, Founding Chairman of the IAQ who said in an electronic letter addressed to Sheikh Mohammed that the only "accomplished leaders" receive such recognition. He added that Sheikh Mohammed was awarded the medal in recognition of his tireless efforts to bring about prosperity and economic development to his country and people and for his distinguished leadership qualities. Dr Feigenbaum praised Sheikh Mohammed's vision, describing Dubai experience as a "miracle and an example that should be followed by other countries."Sheikh Mohammed's vision and leadership qualities enabled him write Dubai's success story in a very short span of time," Dr Feigenbaum said.Afterwards, Sheikh Mohammed received John J. Mack, Chairman and CEO of Morgan Stanley, a global financial services firm which opened its office in the Dubai International Financial Centre (DIFC), its first office in the Middle East and North Africa region.
Mack said that opening an office here was an "important milestone for Morgan Stanley and clear evidence of our commitment to developing our presence in the Middle East and North Africa region." "The UAE and Dubai in particular was selected to host the firm's first office in the region due to its image as a bustling financial and commercial hub," he added.
The meetings were attended by Mohammed Abdullah Al Gergawi, Minister of State for Cabinet Affairs, Lt. General Dahi Khalfan Tamim, Commander General of Dubai Police, Khalfan Hareb, Director of Dubai Ruler's Court, Ibrahim Bu Melha, Dubai Ruler's Advisor for Cultural and Humanitarian Affairs, Dr Omer Sulaiman, Director General of the Dubai International Financial Centre Authority and other officials.
