Moscow, March 30th, 2009 (WAM)--Russian President Dmitry Medvedev received here today evening at Kremlin Vice President and Prime Minister of UAE and Ruler of Dubai HH Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum.
He welcomed the visit of Sheikh Mohammed, considering it as an indicator of new era of distinguished relations and an opportunity to bolster historic relations between the UAE and Russia. Sheikh Mohammed expressed his pleasure about visiting Moscow and meeting Medeved, adding that there were new indicators of the new era of friendship relations between the two countries on all fields. He held talks with the Russian President on expanding base of cooperation to increase the trade exchange in line with growing friendship relations, described by the Russian President as historic. The two sides also explored striking strategic partnership on bilateral cooperation amid the Global Financial Crisis and stressed the endeavour of two countries to overcome it. The talks also covered the Middle East crisis, other regional issues and ways to bring peace in the conflict zones such as the Middle East. Sheikh Mohammed reiterated pivotal role of Russia in solution of the Palestinian issue and acknowledgment of the Palestinian legitimate right to set an independent state.Present at the meeting were Dubai Deputy Ruler HH Sheikh Maktoum bin Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, UAE Interior Minister HH Lt. General Sheikh Saif bin Zayed Al Nahyan, HH Sheikh Ahmed bin Saeed Al Maktoum, Chairman of Dubai Civil Aviation Authority and Supreme Chairman of Emirates Group, HE Mohammed Abdullah Al Gergawi, The Cabinet Affairs State Minister, HE Dr Anwar Mohammed Al Gargash, Foreign Affairs State Minister, HE Reem Ibrahim Al Hashimi, State Minister, UAE Ambassador to Moscow Omer Saif Ghobash and UAE businesspersons.
