The mobile abattoir, currently located near Al Quoz Park, has been set up to serve the Al Barsha, Zabeel, Umm Sequim and Jumeirah areas to relieve pressure on the other slaughterhouses during the period of Eid Al Adha.

It is equipped in accordance with the hygiene requirements in terms of facilities, equipment and devices and has a waiting, reception and cutting areas.

The mobile abattoir has butchers and their assistants as well as cleaners, equipment maintenance workers and supervisors. It also provides testing services for the sacrificial animals.

The municipality has prepared itself to receive the occasion by providing the required manpower ready for action, especially for inspection and maintenance of all devices and equipment in the abattoirs.

It has also made sure full readiness of the abattoirs to accommodate the large amount of offerings of all kinds, small, medium-sized and large animals, in addition to providing all necessary materials for the best possible conduct of work, such as knives, cleaning materials, disinfectants, and all that are needed for the smooth workflow of slaughtering.

The municipality has ensured the readiness of all branches of abattoirs in Al Qusais, Bur Dubai and Hatta. Administrators, supervisors, doctors and workers are all ready and the abattoirs 100 per cent equipped to contain the heavy turnout of customers.

The working hours in Dubai abattoirs will start from 7.30am until 5pm and the slaughtering will continue throughout the four days of Eid.

The abattoir levies a nominal fee for slaughtering the sacrificial animals of individuals, and tariff depends on the type and size of the animal. Tariff for medium-sized animals will be Dh40, for goats Dh15, calf Dh30, big cow Dh45 and small camel Dh60. For charity organisations Dh65 will be charged from individuals.

The municipality called upon the public not to deal with the wanderers and street butchers and avoid slaughtering outside abattoirs, because that is a threat to public health. In the case they observe such things the public can report them the Municipality Contact Centre on 800900.
